One Dead, Five Injured After 50-year-old Drives Wrong Way on Dallas North Tollway

The Texas Department of Public Safety has published the names of the one person died and five people injured in a wrong-way incident that closed a section of the Dallas North Tollway early Monday.

Trania Jackson, 28, of Cedar Hill, was identified as the person died in the crash, which happened shortly before 1:30 a.m. near Royal Lane, the DPS said Tuesday.

According to police, Michael Majewski, 50, of Arlington was driving a 2017 Nissan Altima northbound in the tollway’s southbound lanes when it side-swiped an 18-wheeler and collided head-on with a 2016 Nissan Altima.

Majewski and four others were extricated from the wreckage and taken to local hospitals, according to officials.

According to DPS, Majewski was rushed to Parkland Memorial Hospital in serious condition, while the driver of the 2016 Altima, Shakila Hudson, 31, of Cedar Hill, was also transferred to Parkland with incapacitating injuries.

Jackson, a passenger in Hudson’s vehicle, was pronounced dead on the spot. According to DPS, three additional passengers were injured: Delonna High, 34, of Huntsville, Alabama; Bianca Stroughter, 32, of DeSoto; and Chuanteya Weaver, 24, of Indianapolis.

High and Stroughter were sent to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital with incapacitating injuries, while Weaver was transported to Parkland with significant injuries, according to DPS.

The driver of the 18-wheeler was not hurt.

The crash is still under investigation.
