Two people were killed in an accident on Interstate 15 in Payson on Tuesday afternoon.
Officials identify the victims’ identities as 19-year-old Riley Durst of Draper and 50-year-old Christopher Suiter of Santaquin.
According to Utah Highway Patrol, an SUV was driving north when it drifted across the northbound lanes, passed through the cable barrier in the median, and entered the southbound lanes of I-15.
The SUV slammed head-on into a Jeep. The two drivers, who were the only occupants, died on the site. Their identity has not been revealed.
Two other vehicles collided with the debris from the initial accident, but no one was seriously hurt.
All southbound lanes of I-15 were stopped for several hours, with traffic redirected to exit 253. It reopened at roughly 10 p.m.
