Two motorcycle riders sustained life-threatening injuries in a motorcycle-on-motorcycle crash Saturday night in Torrington, the Torrington Police Department reported. Both victims were airlifted by Life Star to Hartford Hospital.
The collision happened shortly after 7:30 p.m. at Winsted Road near the entrance to Lowe’s Plaza. Officers who arrived on scene found both riders lying beside their motorcycles, having been thrown off during the crash.
One rider, a 32-year-old from Torrington, suffered a severe leg injury, while the other, a 31-year-old from Colebrook, sustained a serious head injury. The Torrington Police Accident Investigation Team is currently investigating the crash. Winsted Road was closed for approximately four hours due to the incident.
Police stated, “Based on evidence and witness statements, both motorcycles were traveling closely together northbound on Winsted Road just before the crash. The collision occurred as they entered the intersection with Lowe’s Plaza at 420 Winsted Road.”
