Wiregrass Spay and Neuter Transport Offers Low-Cost Cat Services July 22-23

DOTHAN, AL (WDNews) — Blooper Animal Rescue is organizing an overnight transport program this summer that will provide low-cost cat spay and neuter treatments to pet owners in the Wiregrass region.

On Tuesday, July 22, 2025, the Wiregrass Spay & Neuter Transport is planned, and on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, it will be picked up. Space is limited, and services must be paid for in advance. Only cats are transported.

The program provides deserving households with subsidized charges through a partnership with the Wiregrass Spay/Neuter Alliance and FUR (Felines Under Rescue).

The procedure, which covers rabies vaccination and spay/neuter, is available to pet owners with Alabama Medicaid for just $25 per cat. In addition to a valid Medicaid card, participants must present a photo ID or driver’s license. There can only be two pets per family per year at the discounted rate.

The cost of participation, which covers rabies, FVRCP, and spay/neuter services, is $70 for those without Medicaid.

There will be several locations across the Wiregrass for drop-off and pick-up, including:

  • Walmart, 1991 M. L. King Jr. Drive, Andalusia
  • Tractor Supply, 1305 Boll Weevil Circle, Enterprise
  • Tractor Supply, 511 Florala Highway, Opp
  • Dollar General, 378 US Hwy 84, Daleville

The program is a component of a larger project to reduce the region’s cat overpopulation and encourage reasonably priced pet care.
