DOTHAN, AL (WDNews) — On Saturday, September 6, the Wiregrass 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb will return to Rip Hewes Stadium in DOTHAN to commemorate the firefighters and first responders who died on September 11, 2001.

Participants of all ages are invited to ascend the 110-story equivalent, which represents the height of the World Trade Center towers, as part of the Dothan Fire event. According to organizers, the yearly ascent acts as a reminder and a memorial for the bravery displayed by first responders on that particular day.

The 343 FDNY firefighters who gave their lives on September 11th to save the lives of others are honored by the NFFF 9/11 Memorial Stair Climbs. By completing the symbolic 110-story climb, which symbolizes the valiant effort to save others, each participant honors one fireman. According to event organizers, community involvement will ensure that the world never forgets the sacrifice made by every fireman.

Honor. Climb. The event’s theme, “Remember,” enables the Wiregrass community to honor and support individuals who continue to work in emergency services and fire departments.

The deadline to register online is September 4Here. You can visit the Wiregrass 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb Facebook page or scan the QR code on the event leaflet for more details and sign-up information.
