ENTERPRISE, ALA. (WDNews) – A colorful new mural that captures the essence of the community via its people, energy, and traditions is headed to Downtown Enterprise.
Nationally renowned muralist Wes Hardin will create the large mural on the rear of the Yancey Parker’s building. He anticipates finishing this mural, which will be his third in the downtown area, in four to six weeks.
With almost 50 years of painting experience, Hardin has already begun site preparation and will shortly start designing the layout. The mural will focus on the various celebrations that take place in downtown Enterprise all year long, ranging from seasonal events to regular gatherings that foster community.
According to Hardin, this artwork depicts how vibrant downtown has grown. It is the hub of activity, where everyone congregates. That was the energy I desired in the mural. In addition, we wanted to hint at the various seasons, such as Christmas and St. Patrick’s Day, but our main focus is on individuals.
Hardin’s distinctive design places a strong emphasis on connection and community, thus this mural is a significant addition to Enterprise’s expanding public art landscape.
“Downtown is not just our city’s geographical center, but the heart of our culture, our celebrations, and our sense of community,” Mayor William E. Cooper said in his endorsement of the project. All of these and more will be reflected in this mural, and we are honored to have Wes return to our community and share his creativity once more.
Building owners Melissa and Addison Paul donated wall space for the project, and an Alabama Power Foundation grant helped make it feasible.
Visitors and locals alike are welcome to drop by and see the mural’s development, which will enhance their shared experience of downtown Enterprise.
