DOTHAN, AL (WDNews) On Monday night, a father and son got into a domestic argument at Biltmore Place on Fortner Street, which resulted in shooting and serious injuries.

On August 3, Dothan Police were called to a reported shooting at an apartment in the 2800 block of Fortner Street just after 6:30 p.m. When officers arrived, they discovered two males inside the house who had been shot and later identified as father and son.

One man had been wounded in the upper torso, while the other had been hit in the lower leg. Both were taken to nearby medical facilities. One of the guys has since received treatment and been freed, according to the police, but the other is still in severe condition.

According to investigators, a verbal altercation between the two guys intensified when one of them drew a gun. Both of them traded gunfire after the other pulled his own pistol in response. Since one of the perpetrators is still in the hospital and unable to make a statement, detectives are still trying to identify the main aggressor.

The inquiry is still ongoing after Monday night’s processing of the area by crime scene experts and criminal detectives.

The public is being reminded by authorities that domestic violence is a severe and frequently concealed problem, and they are advising anyone who is experiencing or witnesses it to get help right away.
