U.S. Rejects UN’s Two-State Conference, Calls It a “Publicity Stunt”

Washington, D.C. (WDNews) – The United States claims the UN-hosted two-state solution meeting in New York City this week is pointless, ill-timed, and detrimental to ongoing diplomatic efforts, thus it will not be attending.

According to a government statement, this is a publicity gimmick that coincides with sensitive diplomatic efforts to end the war. The summit will prolong the battle, give Hamas more confidence, and reward its obstruction—far from fostering peace.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio reaffirmed the administration’s position, calling the incident a reward for terrorism and a smack in the face to the victims of October 7.

Instead, the United States will keep concentrating on direct diplomatic initiatives to put an end to the conflict and ensure a durable peace.

The recent announcement by French President Emmanuel Macron to recognize a Palestinian state was also slammed by officials, who said that it was welcomed by Hamas and only serves to incite more bloodshed and opposition to a truce.

The statement said, “We continue to focus on serious diplomacy, not stage-managed conferences that are intended to create the appearance of relevance.”
