(WDNews) DEFUNIAK SPRINGS, FL This week, deputies from the Walton County Sheriff’s Office and members of the U.S. Marshals Task Force made arrests at two different homes in DeFuniak Springs. Outstanding warrants for indecent and lascivious molestation of a minor under the age of twelve were involved in both arrests.
According to authorities, Curtis Chancey, 60, was detained at a residence on Hinote Road, while Aaron Kent, 26, was apprehended at a location on Girl Scout Road. Authorities verified that the arrests were unconnected and the result of two different investigations carried out by the Criminal Investigations Unit of the Walton County Sheriff’s Office.
Citing the delicate nature of the cases, investigators refrained from disclosing any other details on the victims. The Walton County Jail received bookings for both males. Chancey’s bond was rejected, but Kent’s was set at $500,000. They are both still in jail as of Thursday.
These cases demonstrate the ongoing cooperation between federal task force members and local investigators in the pursuit of individuals suspected of crimes against minors, according to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office.
