Trump Says Coca-Cola Will Bring Cane Sugar Back to U.S. Coke

Published On:

Washington, D.C. (WDNews) – President Donald Trump announced this week that Coca-Cola will begin using cane sugar instead of high-fructose corn syrup in its signature soft drink sold in the United States.

In a post on his Truth Social platform Wednesday, Trump wrote, “I have been speaking to Coca-Cola about using REAL Cane Sugar in Coke in the United States, and they have agreed to do so. I’d like to thank all of those in authority at Coca-Cola. This will be a very good move by them – You’ll see. It’s just better!”

Coca-Cola has not yet confirmed the change. Since the 1980s, the company has used high-fructose corn syrup as its primary sweetener in the U.S., while some international versions of Coca-Cola use cane sugar.

High-fructose corn syrup, made from corn starch, is commonly used in many processed foods and beverages. Cane sugar, derived from sugar cane, has a lower fructose content and is processed differently.

No timeline has been provided for when the change might take place.

WDNews will provide updates if Coca-Cola issues an official statement.
