Montgomery, Alabama (WDNews) Acting United States Attorney Kevin Davidson said today, August 13, that Jeffery Wayne Parker, 52, of Troy, Alabama, was found guilty by a federal jury in Montgomery of being a felon in possession of a handgun.

On August 12, 2025, the jury returned its verdict.

Pike County Sheriff’s Office deputies executed a search warrant at Parker’s home on October 10, 2023, based on court documents and evidence given during the trial. Parker hurried out the back door when police arrived and started to run, but stopped when deputies told him to.

Law officials noticed a weapon in a holster on Parker’s waist as they got closer. Following a check of Parker’s car, which was parked on the site, 21 more firearms—14 shotguns and rifles and seven handguns—were found in the trunk.

According to federal law, Parker is not allowed to own a firearm or ammunition and has a history of felony convictions.

Parker faces a maximum statutory term of 15 years in federal prison as a result of this conviction. The federal system does not have parole.

Assistant United States Attorneys Paul Markovits and J. Patrick Lamb prosecuted this case after it was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Pike County Sheriff’s Office.
