Texas Murder Suspect Caught in Dothan Drug Bust

Dothan, Alabama (WDNews) — A significant narcotics bust on Hamilton Street occurred Tuesday morning after a Texas murder suspect was apprehended in Dothan.

The VICE/Narcotics Division of the Dothan Police Department and the U.S. Marshal Gulf Coast Regional Task Force filed an arrest warrant for Terrance Matthews, 38, who was wanted for murder in El Paso, Texas, investigators said. The 1000 block of Hamilton Street is where the arrest occurred.

Officers reportedly discovered illegal drugs inside the house while making the arrest. Following the acquisition of a search warrant, Matthews and another guy, 37-year-old Marcus Hill, were taken into custody.

Methamphetamine, cocaine, marijuana, pills, supplies for making drugs, and over $62,000 in cash were found, according to investigators.

Hill and Matthews were both taken into custody on a number of counts, including:

Trafficking in Drugs

Manufacturing a Controlled Substance Illicitly First

Illicit Drug Paraphernalia Possession

Changing Physical Proof

In addition, Matthews is charged with evading justice in connection with the Texas murder warrant.

El Paso Police is also receiving assistance in the continuing case from the Dothan Police Criminal Investigations Division. William E. Benny, the chief of police in Dothan, also expressed gratitude to the U.S. Marshal Gulf Coast Regional Task Force for their assistance.
