Sporting events in Austin for July

Are you looking for a fun thing to do this month or need a vacation from work or classes? A list of July athletic events in the Austin area has been compiled by The Daily Texan.

Round Rock Express vs. Albuquerque Isotopes, July 8–9

The Texas Rangers Triple-The Round Rock Express, a minor league club, will start a six-game homestand against Albuquerque at Dell Diamond on Tuesday. The Express will try to improve its overall record at home after starting the month with a 1-3 record against the Sugar Land Space Cowboys.

Fans are welcome to bring their dogs to the Express stadium, the Dell Diamond, as part of their monthly Bark in the Park event on Thursday.

July 12: New England Revolution vs. Austin FC

The verde and black will be back in town for their showdown against No. 11 New England after Austin FC’s U.S. Open Cup encounter against the No. 6 San Jose Quakes on Tuesday.

Round Rock Express vs. Albuquerque Isotopes, July 13

Their six-game homestand will come to an end on Sunday before they travel to Las Vegas for an away series. The Dell Diamond is throwing a Teddy Bear Toss charity event in honor of the occasion. During the sixth inning, fans are invited to bring stuffed animals to toss on the field; all proceeds will go to the Williamson County Children’s Advocacy Center. The event will also feature free train rides and inflatables in honor of Kids Day.

AUSL Volts versus. Bandits, July 17–20

Three former Longhorns, Bella Dayton, Mary Iakopo, and Mia Scott, will participate in a four-game series between the Volts and Bandits of the Athletes Unlimited Softball League at Dell Diamond.

Texas Roller Derby Playoffs, July 19

Four TXRD teams—the Hellcats, Holy Rollers, Putas del Fuego, and Rhinestones—will compete in the rink following six months of competition to determine who will face the Cherry Bombs for the Calvello Cup Championship on August 31. As the teams prepare for the playoffs, the event’s fierce, quirky, and boisterous atmosphere will provide for an enjoyable viewing experience.

Round Rock Express vs. El Paso Chihuahuas, July 29–31

The Express will host the current No. 1 seed in the Pacific Coast League East for a six-game series after playing two series away from home.
