DOTHAN, Ala. (WDNews) – Southeast Health has been named one of America’s Greatest Workplaces 2025 in healthcare by Newsweek and Plant-A Insights Group.

The recognition highlights employee engagement across Southeast Health’s entire system, including the Medical Center, Medical Group, Foundation, Statera Network, and the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine (ACOM).

“This recognition is the result of great employees who are committed to providing excellent patient care to those we serve and educating medical students,” said Rick Sutton, CEO of Southeast Health. “I am proud of our Southeast Health team and their unselfish commitment to the wellbeing of our community. They don’t do it for awards or recognition, they do it because every patient and medical student deserves their best.”

Newsweek and Plant-A Insights Group selected companies based on a detailed assessment that included employee interviews, company reviews, public data, and more than 120 key performance indicators.

“In the healthcare industry especially, employee engagement is crucial,” said Jennifer H. Cunningham, editor-in-chief of Newsweek. “These companies demonstrate exceptional commitment to creating a workplace that promotes both employee and patient satisfaction at the highest level.”

She added that “employee engagement provides a range of benefits, which is why Newsweek and Plant-A Insights Group have partnered for the third-annual ranking of America’s Greatest Workplaces recognizing companies where employee engagement comes naturally.”

“This recognition, along with our Forbes Best-in-State employer for three years in a row, is examples of how Southeast continues to be Southbest,” Southeast Health stated.

Southeast Health operates the region’s largest not-for-profit hospital and serves more than 460,000 residents across southeast Ala., southwest Georgia, and the Florida Panhandle. The 420-bed facility is a certified Comprehensive Stroke Center, Level II Trauma Center, Chest Pain Center, and home to the only Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in the region.
