Sip, Chug & Win: Sweet Tea Festival Hits Enterprise Aug. 16

ENTERPRISE, AL. (WDNews) On Saturday, August 16, Enterprise will once again showcase its Southern charm with the return of the Alabama Sweet Tea Festival.

The Enterprise Civic Center and Festival Field, located at 2401 Neil Metcalf Road, will host the festival from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Live entertainment, family-friendly events, and a number of sweet tea contests, such as the well-liked Sweet Tea Chugging Contest and the Best Home Brew Contest, which both have cash prizes, will all be part of the yearly celebration.

Beginning at 10:30 a.m., attendees of the festival can visit the Mitchell Automotive Tasting Tent to taste teas and cast their votes in the People’s Choice Contest. Nonprofit booths with engaging activities for all ages will line the outdoor midway.

The Visit Enterprise information tent will hold the Sweet Tea Chugging Contest, which challenges competitors to demonstrate that they are the town’s fastest tea drinkers. There are four age groups: 7–10, 11–14, 15–18, 19–30, and 31+. The first-place winner will receive a $50 reward.

Both novice and expert home brewers can enter the Best Home Brew Contest, which has two entry options:


  • Professionally Judged: 1 gallon of traditional or flavored tea (or both)


  • People s Choice: 8 gallons of traditional or flavored tea (or both)

By preparing a total of nine liters, participants can also enter both categories. In each category, there are cash awards of $200 for first place, $100 for second, and $50 for third.While professionally judged entries will be assessed by a group of local culinary experts and members of the tea industry, People’s Choice winners are chosen by attendees at the tasting tent.
