DOTHAN, Ala. (WDNews)
– Mailing a letter just got more expensive. As of Sunday, July 13, 2025, the cost of a First-Class Forever stamp has increased from 73 cents to 78 cents, according to the United States Postal Service.
This 5-cent hike is part of the USPS’s ongoing effort to offset operating losses and modernize the mail system under its “Delivering for America” plan. The agency cited inflation and declining mail volumes as key reasons behind the increase.
In addition to the price of Forever stamps:
-
Metered mail (1 oz.) now costs 74 cents, up from 69 cents.
-
Domestic postcards have risen from 56 cents to 61 cents.
-
International letters and postcards increased from $1.65 to $1.70.

USPS officials said in an announcement that the rate changes were approved by the Postal Regulatory Commission and are necessary to maintain reliable mail and package delivery nationwide.
The Postal Service recorded a $9.5 billion loss in fiscal year 2024 and has signaled more price increases could follow, possibly twice a year through 2027.
Forever stamps purchased at the old price will still be valid for future use without the need for additional postage.
