Over 270 Kids Reel in Fun at Youth Fishing Day in Dothan

Dothan, Ala. (WDNews) On Saturday, July 19, 2025, Eastgate Park hosted the 28th Annual Youth Fishing Day, which brought in larger fish and many more smiles. Over 270 kids from 5 to 15 years old participated in the event for a fun-filled morning of outdoor excitement, family enjoyment, and friendly competition.

McDonald’s gave away Coca-Cola swag bags, raffle tickets, and sausage biscuits to the first 100 young anglers. Families enjoyed a range of attractions while children formed lines, such as coffee from Travelin’ Tom’s, a themed photo booth, Kona Ice, and face painting by Lolli K.

With rewards totaling $745.95, the fishing competition was intense. First prize went to Arionna Beaty, who caught an amazing 26 fish. Aiden Laster completed the top three with 16 fish, followed by Brayden Martin with 22. Tristan Stewart, who wore a fishnet vest and a handmade fishing hat, was also awarded a special Award for Most Creative Fishing Outfit.

In addition to thanking local sponsors and families for helping to make the day a success, the organizers said they are already anticipating next year’s event.
