The town of New Brockton has received a $100,000 Community Development Block Grant from Governor Kay Ivey to encourage the expansion of new business development and sewage infrastructure.
Sewer line installation at the proposed MAXX Travel Stop location at the intersection of Byrd Mill Road and US Highway 84 will be partially funded by the grant. It is anticipated that the initiative will increase local income and pave the way for future growth, including the possibility of providing truck drivers with overnight accommodations.
According to Governor Ivey, this initiative is a significant first step toward future growth in this expanding rural Wiregrass town. Coffee County and New Brockton will get a sizable increase in tax revenue as a result of the travel stop, which will also give resources to draw in new companies.
A 6,120-square-foot convenience shop, truck parking, a deli, a dog park, and shower-equipped restrooms will all be available at the travel stop. Eight additional jobs are anticipated to be created. Prisha Properties LLC, which has comparable stores in Samson, Florala, and Andalusia, will run the enterprise.
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development provided funding for the federal grant, which is being administered by the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA).
According to ADECA Director Kenneth Boswell, this is fantastic news for the community of New Brockton and will help both locals and visitors. Together with Governor Ivey, ADECA supports this project, which will undoubtedly benefit the town.
Charles Schieffer, Mayor of New Brockton, was informed by Governor Ivey.
