Midland City, Ala. (WDNews) –
Governor Kay Ivey has announced that more than $3.7 million in state funding is being awarded to support 12 local road projects across Alabama, including one in Midland City, located in Dale County.
The funding comes through the Alabama Department of Transportation’s Annual Grant Program, a key part of the Rebuild Alabama Act. This second round of grants for fiscal year 2025 brings the total awarded through the program to more than $66 million since it began.
“Rebuild Alabama is doing exactly what we promised – fixing roads and bridges in every corner of our state,” Governor Ivey said. “With every round of funding, we’re seeing real improvements along our busiest highways and the local roads Alabamians rely on every day. This is a smart, long-term investment at work, and Alabama is better for it.”
Midland City will receive $318,900 in state funds to help resurface eight city streets, totaling 1.9 miles. The town is also contributing an additional $68,900 in local matching funds, bringing the total project cost to $387,800.
Cities and counties receiving funds are required to begin work within one year of the grant being awarded. In total, the 12 projects will benefit from over $3.5 million in local matches, resulting in more than $7.3 million in combined infrastructure investment across the state.
