Man Found Passed Out Behind Tractor Supply Arrested on Drug Charges in Chipley

CHIPLEY, FL. (WDNews) — Police say a guy was detained Friday, August 8, after they discovered him slumped behind the wheel of a parked automobile with drug equipment and methamphetamine.

An officer saw a black Honda Accord parked behind Tractor Supply after hours, according to the Chipley Police Department. Rory James Davis was in the driver’s seat when the officer arrived, looking confused and fading in and out of consciousness.

Davis apparently couldn’t quickly offer identification since he wasn’t sure where he was. Police said that after emptying his pockets, he immediately put the purple eyeglass case—which contained what looked to be a pipe frequently used for illegal drug use—back into his pocket.

A glass smoking pipe with traces that tested positive for methamphetamine was found in the eyeglass case that officers retrieved after detaining Davis. Additional evidence was found during a follow-up search of the car, including a digital scale with meth residue, a plastic bag holding a methamphetamine pill bottle, and a small quantity of marijuana in a white container on the passenger seat.

Davis was taken into custody and accused of:

  • Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine)

  • Possession of Drug Equipment (Scale and Pipe)

  • Possession of Marijuana (Less than 20 grams)

He is being detained pending other court cases.
