DOTHAN, Ala. (WDNews) This fall, the Tri-State Community Orchestra will perform at the Dothan Opera House in a hauntingly original show. The trio will perform a live orchestral accompaniment to a showing of The Phantom of the Opera, a silent picture from 1925, on Friday, October 24.
A complete orchestral score will be played live during the one-night event as the iconic Lon Chaney horror movie is shown. The picture is still regarded as a classic of early cinema because of its spooky imagery and Chaney’s iconic performance as the Phantom.
The evening was made possible by the orchestra, which was composed of volunteer musicians from Florida, Georgia, and Alabama, in collaboration with the Dothan Performing Arts Department. According to the event’s organizers, it’s a unique opportunity to watch a silent film the way people did almost a century ago, with live music enhancing each scene.

The community is urged by the organizers not to miss this captivating fusion of music and film at one of Alabama’s most iconic locations.
