Baldwin County, Ala. (WDNews) –
Governor Kay Ivey has appointed Laurie Hoyt to serve as the newest circuit judge in Baldwin County’s 28th Judicial Circuit, following the retirement of Judge Carmen Bosch on June 4.
Hoyt, a longtime Baldwin County resident, brings nearly two decades of experience to the bench. She began her legal career with the firm James Dorgan, PC in Fairhope and also taught business law at Spring Hill College. For the past 18 years, Hoyt worked as an attorney for the Alabama Department of Human Resources, serving as an Assistant Attorney General. She handled a wide range of legal matters, including juvenile and domestic cases, complex litigation, and administrative hearings.
“Judge Hoyt is well versed in the law, both criminal and civil,” said Governor Ivey. “She brings a broad range of legal experience and I am confident she will honorably serve the people of Baldwin County.”
Hoyt received her undergraduate degree from Spring Hill College in 2002 and earned her law degree from Loyola University College of Law in 2006.
“I am honored and grateful that Governor Ivey appointed me,” said Hoyt. “I look forward to serving the citizens of Baldwin County and working hard on their behalf.”
Hoyt lives in Daphne with her husband, Baldwin County District Judge Michael Hoyt, and their three children. Her appointment is effective immediately.
