Dothan, Al. (WDNews) – Wiregrass Daily News met with JT Carroll, candidate for Dothan City Schools Board of Education District 5, to learn about his vision for District 5. JT is leaning on his military leadership background as he seeks to serve his district. Drawing from years of experience as a leader in the armed forces, Carroll emphasizes a leadership style focused not on issuing orders, but on understanding what others need in order to succeed.
If elected, Carroll says he aims to foster a stronger, more competitive school system in Dothan. A central part of his platform is rebuilding trust among parents, the community, and the school system.
He believes that retaining teachers and students within Dothan City Schools starts with strengthening those relationships and demonstrating a genuine commitment to care and support, rather than acting out of obligation.
