Montgomery, Alabama (WDNews) — Governor Kay Ivey said Monday that the 2025 Growing Alabama program has granted over $25.9 million to support economic development projects in 15 towns throughout the state, including significant financing for projects in Dothan and Ozark.
Governor Ivey stated that one of the best strategies we have to fortify our economic base and get towns of all sizes ready for future expansion is Growing Alabama. All around our state, these investments are opening doors for long-term prosperity, company growth, and high-quality jobs.
The Renewal of Alabama Commission-approved financing consists of:
-
$3.26 million for the Houston County Distribution Park (Dothan Industrial Development Board)
-
$150,000 for the Ozark Airport Industrial Site
-
$24,856 for the Ozark Industrial Park (Ozark-Dale County Economic Development Corporation)
Areas in Targeted Counties that were given priority for rural growth received more than 27% of this year’s rewards.
According to Alabama Department of Commerce Secretary Ellen McNair, the Growing Alabama initiative is still having a significant impact on Alabama towns. With this cash, local leaders can compete for transformative economic development initiatives and expedite site preparation. It’s a wise, calculated investment in the future of Alabama.
The Alabama State Port Authority ($3.55M), the Mobile Airport Authority ($2.5M), and the City of Prattville ($4.9M) are further significant recipients.
State tax credits for contributions to economic development initiatives are available to eligible donors through the Growing Alabama program. Initiatives that qualify include port and intermodal facility enhancements, infrastructure upgrades, and site preparation for industrial use.
The Renewal of Alabama Commission, led by Secretary McNair, is in charge of overseeing the initiative, which is run by the Alabama Department of Commerce.
