DOTHAN, AL (WDNews) In an effort to improve security and update operations in its detention facility, the Houston County Jail has formally implemented 4Sight Labs OverWatch technology.
The county placed four gateway devices and fifteen OverWatch sensors under the direction of Jail Commander Captain Asbill and Sheriff Donald Valenza. Inmates’ vital signs and movements are tracked in real time by the wearable device, which provides early warnings to enable staff to promptly address behavioral or medical issues.
Captain Asbill stated, “The safety and well-being of everyone inside this facility is our top priority.” We have another instrument to fulfill that obligation thanks to OverWatch, which enables our employees to react more quickly and efficiently when someone is exhibiting warning indications or is experiencing medical distress. It’s a wise move for both our operations and the clients we assist.
Reducing in-custody mortality, speeding up emergency response times, and offering round-the-clock surveillance are all goals of the OverWatch system. 4Sight Labs claims that the technology improves transparency for law enforcement and correctional organizations while lowering liability.
A nationwide trend toward data-driven correctional management and wellness is reflected in the deployment. Several jurisdictions across the country are currently utilizing OverWatch to update correctional treatment, including Houston County.
