Heads Up, Drivers: Alabama Students Are Back in Class

Montgomery, Ala. (WDNews) The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) is reminding drivers that returning to school also means returning to safety as the new school year gets underway throughout the state.

ALEA authorities cautioned drivers to anticipate more traffic around schools in the morning and afternoon in a statement released on Monday. In order to combat speeding, inattentive driving, and the unlawful passing of halted school buses, troopers will be stepping up their patrols near school zones, especially in rural regions.

According to ALEA Secretary Hal Taylor, your actions count whether you’re a parent dropping off your child, a teenager driving to school for the first time, or a commuter going through a school zone. A few more seconds of vigilance can save lives.
