DOTHAN, AL (WDNews) On August 4 and 5, SpectrumCare Health Systems will hold a free two-day training on suicide prevention at its crisis center, which is situated at 2740 Headland Avenue in Dothan. On both days, sessions will begin at 8 a.m. and end at 5 p.m.

The goal of the in-person course is to provide participants the skills they need to spot suicidal thoughts, offer expert intervention, and assist in developing a safety plan for individuals who are in need. Interactive talks, simulations, and video presentations are all part of the training.

Participants will also examine how one’s readiness to ask for help and one’s capacity to offer support can be influenced by one’s own and society’s perspectives about suicide. The program’s goal is to increase community members’ self-esteem and ability to avoid suicide.

Space may be limited, therefore those who would like to attend are urged to register as soon as possible. Contact Ashley Shasteen by email at [email protected] or by phone at (334) 673-2143, ext. 3051, to register. Kindly provide your name, phone number, and the county in where you reside or work.
