GENEVA COUNTY, Ala. (WDNews) — Firefighters from multiple agencies responded to a house fire late Friday night south of Fadette and Slocomb.
At approximately 11 p.m. on June 6, Geneva County 911 dispatched crews to a structure fire at 15617 East County Road 4. The caller reported visible flames and smoke coming from an upstairs bedroom and confirmed all occupants had safely exited the home.
Due to the rural location and lack of fire hydrants, additional support was requested from Esto and Pittman volunteer fire departments. Units from Fadette, Malvern, and Slocomb fire departments arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the second floor of a large two-story residence.
Firefighters launched an interior attack and worked through intense heat and smoke to contain the fire, which had spread to several rooms and the attic. Crews also worked outside the structure to establish water supply lines and salvage belongings from the first floor.
Wiregrass Electric Cooperative quickly cut off power to the home, and deputies from the Geneva County Sheriff’s Office provided assistance at the scene.
No major injuries were reported.
