DOTHAN, AL (WDNews) The Wiregrass is ablaze with patriotic joy this year. To maintain the festive spirit, several people in Dothan and the surrounding towns have stepped up. So assemble the family, grab some yard chairs, and celebrate the Fourth of July locally!

Park Fireworks in Level Plains

With food, vendors, family activities, and a fireworks display later that evening, the Level Plains Community Center opens its park on July 4 at 4 p.m.

The Old-Fashioned Fourth in Landmark Park

On July 4, Landmark Park will offer a family-friendly outdoor celebration from 12 to 8 p.m. that includes watermelon sampling, lawn games, a kids’ bike parade, and picnics. Adult admission is $6, children’s admission is $5, and children under three enter free of charge. Note: there are no fireworks included.

Headland’s Fireworks & Agriculture Parade

The Fourth of July celebrations in Headland’s downtown square begin at 4 p.m. with food trucks, balloon art, glitter tattoos, and an agricultural parade at 5 p.m., followed by fireworks at Douglas Park at around 9 p.m.

Geneva’s Celebration of the Good Old Days

Robert Fowler Park, popularly known as The Junction, will feature a carnival-style Independence Day celebration on July 4 from 4 to 9 p.m., organized by the Greater Geneva Area Chamber of Commerce. Prize-winning carnival games, live music, train rides, water activities, face painting, balloon artists, and food vendors are all part of the family-friendly event. A fireworks display will light up the Geneva sky as the evening comes to a close.

On Friday, July 4, Ashford will hold its yearly 4thFEST at the historic Dupree School. Activities begin at 5 p.m., with fireworks after sunset, and gates open at 4 p.m. Giant water slides, live music, face painting, food vendors, games, and arts and crafts are all part of this family-friendly celebration. The Dupree School Preservation Project will profit from the $20 donation per vehicle for admission. Pets, coolers, alcohol, and outdoor pyrotechnics are all prohibited.

Celebration in Frank Jackson State Park

The public is invited to the City of Opp’s Independence Day celebration on Friday, July 4 at Frank Jackson State Park. Admission is free starting at 10 a.m., and there will be live music all day long. Rip Hewes Stadium will host a special event this weekend to extend the Fourth of July celebrations. The Dothan Dragons will play their home game against Wiregrass United Way Night on Saturday, July 5. On Saturday, July 5, Eufaula will celebrate Independence Day at Lakepoint State Park with fireworks, refreshments, and live music. Food vendors and live music by Mike and Josh, an acoustic duet performing a blend of rock, pop, and country, kick off the event at 5 p.m. Around 9 p.m., fireworks are expected to start.Lakepoint State Park and the City of Eufaula are hosting the celebration. It is requested that attendees refrain from bringing their own fireworks.
