ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WDNews) —

The City of Enterprise is celebrating the grand reopening of Ouida Street Park after a major renovation aimed at improving recreation and community connection.

The revitalized park now features a paved parking lot, new picnic tables and benches, upgraded landscaping and a spacious metal pavilion complete with covered seating. New playground equipment, including a custom play structure and swings, was also installed to provide safer, more enjoyable experiences for children.

Mayor William E. Cooper, who once represented the area as a City Council member, called the park a special gathering place for families.

“I’m proud to see this park transformed into a space that will continue to serve generations to come,” Cooper said during the reopening event. “This investment shows our commitment to the people and to the quality of life we’re building in Enterprise.”

District One Councilwoman Sonya Rich echoed those sentiments and gave credit to the local crews who handled much of the work.

“This is a great day for our community,” Rich said. “The work you see was done by our very own Public Works and Parks and Rec staff who live here and care deeply about Enterprise. They’ve done an outstanding job.”

The Enterprise City Council approved the park’s improvements in May 2023, which included the new pavilion and play structures. The new parking lot was added as part of the city’s larger resurfacing project.

Blake Moore, Director of Community Services and Recreation, said the upgrades are part of a broader effort to modernize parks citywide.

“Ouida Street Park is a great example of how we’re working to make thoughtful, lasting improvements across the city,” Moore said.

The reopening reflects goals laid out in Enterprise’s Comprehensive Plan, where residents stressed the importance of accessible parks and green spaces.

The park is now open daily during daylight hours, and the pavilion is available for reservations by calling Enterprise Parks and Recreation at (334) 348-2681.
