ENTERPRISE, AL. (WDNews) To discuss the future of the Rucker Boulevard Corridor, the City of Enterprise is inviting citizens, entrepreneurs, investors, and community members to attend two public forums.
The corridor plan, according to city officials, is an essential part of the Enterprise Comprehensive Plan and fits in with Mayor William E. Cooper’s long-term goal of increasing both public and private investment along important thoroughfares.
According to Mayor Cooper, we have a great chance to develop this part of our town into something lively and significant. My government has made revitalizing Rucker Boulevard a priority from the start. We can create great experiences for visitors, investors, and residents alike with careful planning and both public and private investment.
Parts of Rucker Boulevard, which was once a thriving commercial district, have steadily declined in recent years as development has moved to other locations. By redesigning the area with community input, the city intends to buck that tendency.
Among the ideas under consideration are shrinking the commercial footprint and converting smaller adjacent properties into green space, residences, new companies, or recreational spaces that are suited to the changing needs of the neighborhood.
A number of key areas are intended to be addressed by the Rucker Boulevard Corridor Plan:
-
Increasing connectivity for pedestrians and vehicles
-
Improving the facilities surrounding local schools
-
Maintaining and growing green areas
-
Promoting reinvestment in properties that are getting older
-
Encouraging residential and commercial growth

On Tuesday, July 22, 2025, a public meeting will take place at the cafeteria of Rucker Boulevard Elementary School, which is situated at 209 Regency Drive. An outline of the proposal and chances for focused feedback will be covered in the first session, which is for business and property owners along the corridor and runs from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. From 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., a more general community workshop will be place, inviting locals and interested parties to exchange ideas, talk about possible enhancements, and discover ways to continue participating in the planning process.
