ENTERPRISE, AL. (WDNews) In response to recent internet allegations that the city’s crime rate is much higher than the national average, Enterprise police and city officials are correcting the record.
According to officials, the assertions are based on out-of-date FBI data from the Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) system, which was formally replaced in 2021 and is now defunct. The National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS), which Enterprise currently utilizes, is a more advanced platform that tracks 52 categories of crimes, significantly more than the eight types that were tracked under the previous system.
According to police officers, the fact that more categories are being reported does not imply that there is more crime; rather, it only indicates that our data is better.
There is a decrease in crime overall.
Enterprise witnessed notable drops in several important crime categories between 2020 and 2024:
-
Murder: Completely eliminated (2 cases to 0)
