Enterprise Fire & Police “Go Pink” to Fight Breast Cancer

Published On:

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Enterprise Police Department (EPD) and Enterprise Fire Department (EFD) will turn pink this October. Special events and fundraisers will be held to benefit Coffee County women who are fighting the disease.

The Coffee County Family Services Center (CCFS), which offers assistance and services to local women battling breast cancer, will benefit from the $30 limited-edition pink t-shirt that the fire department is selling. Orders for shirts are sent to the nearby company Frog Printz via the EFD website, www.enterprisefd.com. Orders must be placed by September 16 in order for them to be shipped straight to the customer or available for pickup by September 26.

According to Fire Chief Christopher Davis, the concept is an extension of the department’s long-standing awareness-raising practice of wearing special shirts every October.

Protecting our neighborhood is our responsibility as firefighters, Davis stated. About one in eight women will get invasive breast cancer at some point in their lives, making breast cancer the most prevalent cancer diagnosed in the United States. We wanted to support women in our community who are fighting for their lives, not merely wear a shirt to promote awareness.

To express their support for those fighting breast cancer, EFD staff will also don unique uniform shirts during the month of October.

Throughout October, officers will continue to wear pink patches on their uniforms as part of the Enterprise Police Department’s Pink Patch Project. The proceeds from the selling of commemorative patches will go toward funding local initiatives.

The first Party in Pink: Zumba for Breast Cancer Awareness, organized by Enterprise Parks and Recreation in collaboration with Medical Center Enterprise, is scheduled for October 4. To raise money and awareness, participants are urged to move meaningfully and wear pink. On August 21, registration will open.

Additionally, Downtown Enterprise will turn pink from 3 to 7 p.m. on September 27 for Girls Night Out for a Cause, where vendors will provide refreshments, deals, and photo ops.

The Coffee County Family Services Center will benefit from the money raised. The group works to guarantee that Coffee County women have access to vital health resources, such as programs for breast exams and mammograms, aid paying for gas, and transportation to treatment. To guarantee that women receive care regardless of their insurance status, these initiatives are being carried out throughout the county.
