DOTHAN, Ala. (WDNews) — Families with students at Dothan Preparatory Academy won’t have to worry about back-to-school shopping for supplies this fall. The school is stepping up in a big way by providing school supplies—including backpacks—for all 7th and 8th grade students.
Principal Mr. James Williams confirmed the initiative in an interview, explaining that the decision was made with students and their families in mind.
“As the principal at DPA, myself, and my leadership team, we try to figure out ways to best serve our students and their families,” said Williams. “We allocate some of our funds to provide school supplies for our students.”
Williams emphasized that the goal is to reduce stress on families while making sure students have the tools they need to start the school year strong.
“These are all based on the concept of serving our students,” he added.
While other area schools have not announced the same yet, DPA is leading the charge with this student-first effort.
Williams also mentioned that more details, including updated open house information, will be available in the coming days.
