Dothan Police Offering Free RAD Self-Defense Course Aug. 9

The next session of the Dothan Police Department’s Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) training, a free self-defense course for women and girls aged 12 and up, has been announced.

The 12-hour training will take place at the Wiregrass Public Safety Center, which is situated at 100 Public Safety Way in Dothan, on two Saturdays, August 9 and August 16, 2025. Every day, classes run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with a one-hour lunch break from noon to 1 p.m.

Participants will gain useful skills for self-defense in a range of scenarios, including verbal altercations and physical assaults. With a focus on empowering women of all ages and abilities, the course also covers personal safety and awareness.
