DOTHAN, AL (WDNews) A 32-year-old lady passed away last week after allegedly overdosing on fentanyl, and two Dothan males are being charged with manslaughter.
Police and paramedics from Dothan were dispatched to a mobile home park in the 2200 block of South Oates Street on June 20. They discovered Torie Lynn Strickland unconscious outside a trailer when they got there. Officers started providing Narcan and other life-saving procedures right away. After being brought to a nearby hospital, Strickland passed away on June 23.
According to investigators, there was signs of a narcotic overdose at the scene. According to a collaborative investigation with the Houston County Sheriff’s Office, Mitchel Folds, 32, and George Trierweiler, 44, are the people who allegedly provided Strickland with fentanyl.
A 2024 Alabama statute enacted by Governor Kay Ivey allowed for the charges against both men: manslaughter-fentanyl. People who intentionally give fentanyl to someone who later dies from it can be charged by the law.
After a search of the home, Folds and Madalynn Mae Bean, 33, were both charged with Unlawful Distribution of a Controlled Substance.
The Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences has been tasked with conducting an autopsy on Strickland’s body. Dothan Police expressed gratitude to the Alabama Drug Enforcement Task Force and the Houston County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in the case.
“The possession and distribution of this dangerous drug will not be overlooked in the City of Dothan,” Chief William Benny said, offering his condolences to Strickland’s family and promising to continue enforcement efforts.
