DOTHAN, AL (WDNews) — On Monday, city officials counted 13 provisional ballots from the municipal election held last week, while 19 others were deemed ineligible because verification paperwork were missing.
The public canvassing was conducted by the City Clerk’s office in the Dothan City Commission Chambers at 10 a.m. Six of the 38 provisional ballots cast on August 5 were declared ineligible, and 19 of them were unable to be reviewed due to the absence of PB-3 verification statement forms.
The missing paperwork are thought to be sealed within PB-1 ballot envelopes, according to the Secretary of State’s Director of Elections. The ballots cannot be counted since state regulations forbid opening those envelopes to get the forms.
At the Wiregrass Recreation Center, all 19 uncounted votes were cast in District 2.
To find out if their ballot was counted or why it was rejected, provisional voters can get in touch with their county board of registrars. You can reach the Dale County Board at 334-774-9038 and the Houston County Board of Registrars at 334-677-4775.
