Dangerous Heat in Effect Through Tuesday in the Wiregrass

Dothan, Ala. (WDNews) – A Heat Advisory is in effect today across the Florida Panhandle, Big Bend, and parts of south Georgia, with dangerous heat expected to continue through Tuesday.

In Dothan, the heat index is forecast to reach 106° today, and it’s expected to stay in the triple digits through midweek.

High temperatures will range from 95° to 100°, with “feels-like” conditions climbing between 105° and 112°. While humidity may be slightly lower today, hotter air temps are keeping heat index values dangerously high.

The National Weather Service warns that the oppressive heat poses a risk for heat-related illnesses, especially for those working or spending time outdoors.

Rain chances remain low today at 20% or less, but increased moisture by Monday and Tuesday may bring scattered afternoon storms—along with continued heat and humidity.

More Heat Advisories are expected early next week as the pattern persists.

Stay hydrated, take breaks in the shade, and check on vulnerable neighbors.
