The nights at Meanwhile Brewing Co. have only just begun, even if the sun is setting and the weather is starting to drop. The Backyard BBQ Nights Summer Series is held every Friday and features live music, local vendors and restaurants, specialty beers and beverages, and delicious barbecue influenced by many parts of the world.
Beginning on August 8, Backyard BBQ Night will have a new school concept that centers on the unique methods and seasonings that barbecue has adopted in Central Texas. Visitors can eat at nearby eateries such Uptown Sports Club, MUM Foods, and Distant Relatives. Tickets cost $59 plus taxes and fees and can be purchased online or at the door. Each ticket costs $20, and all sales of items, specialty beers, and cocktails will benefit the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund by supporting the Community Foundation of the Hill Country.
Conner Gilfillan, general manager of Meanwhile Brewing Co., stated, “We’re trying to make sure that people feel seen and heard, and have a space to be themselves and slow down for a moment.” Austin’s culture is reflected in this event, which also demonstrates how local companies support one another.
Uptown Sports Club and Meanwhile Brewing Co. started working together on this series last year. According to Matthew Pearson, general manager of Uptown Sports Club, one of the objectives of this series is to support neighborhood eateries throughout the summer months, as sales decline the most during this time.
“I have people in restaurants that I love, but I don’t have restaurants that I love anymore,” Pearson remarked. I’d like to go help them. I wish to endorse their beliefs and affection. Having the summer series allows you to spend more time with (the chefs) and helps us showcase those people.
Each ticket includes entry and one side from each restaurant, and doors are open from 6 to 10 p.m. Northern African vinyls will be played by Gabe Chicoine (DJ Adult Themes) during supper, and Markieth Bolan will perform live music to close out the evening.
Chicoine remarked, “I’m thrilled to DJ for the Meanwhile space.” Whenever I visit, it’s usually crowded. Being a part of all the activities and the large number of people will make for an enjoyable time.
The show, which runs for four weeks and ends on August 15, has covered topics including Asian, Asado, and new school. The final theme, which will be explored on Friday, will be old school. Franklin BBQ and Loro Asian Smokehouse & Bar will spotlight traditional barbecue at the event’s climax on August 15.
According to Pearson, everyone who has shown up has been incredibly upbeat and thrilled to be there because they understand that in addition to having a fantastic time, they are also contributing, which is crucial. The chefs are thrilled to be involved in something new and enjoyable this summer. That’s the finest part, hands down.
