DOTHAN, AL (WDNews) Throughout July and early August, dozens of Wiregrass groups are providing free school supplies, backpacks, food, haircuts, and other services to ensure that youngsters are prepared for a successful start to the school year.
Here is a current summary of every occurrence that has been confirmed:
July 12
Ozark’s Back 2 School BashOzark’s Cricket Wireless, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.Free materials, food trucks, vendors, face painting, backpacks (children must be present), and more.
20 July
Headland Glovers McKay School Supply GiveawayAt Headland Town Square, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.hosted by Fellowship Lodge #439 PHA and Woods Choice Chapter #356 OES. Each child, who needs to be present, has one backpack.
The City Church Back-to-School Bash will take place at 836 West Selma Street from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.Free materials, popcorn, snow cones, backpacks, and the church’s clothes pantry are also provided.
26 July
The PEIR 2nd Annual Bash will take place at 1930 Wise Drive from 12 to 4 p.m.The organization People Engaged in Recovery is giving away free school supplies.
Giveaway from D Kreative One Doug Tew Recreation Center, Dothan, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Free book bags, school supplies, games, prizes, and refreshments.
July 27
The giveaway for the Gigi Minimart & Plum Lounge bookbag will begin at 11 a.m. at 1307 East Newton Street.Free backpacks, drinks, nachos, and hot dogs.
First Methodist Church Bash, 1380 W. Main St., Dothan, 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.Students who register in advance can get haircuts, supplies, and backpacks. Only walk-ups are welcomed.
First Born Abundance of Faith Holiness Church, Dothan, 1970 Reeves Street, Suite 213 from 12 to 3 p.m.Movie time, hot dogs, drinks, and a giveaway of school supplies.
Held by the Wiregrass Area Pan-Hellenic Council, the UNITY Backpack Giveaway will take place at Walton Park Recreation Center from 12 to 2 p.m. includes freebies, music, and food.
Cuts and Kicks Dothan10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Civic Center in Dothan500 students (K5–12th grade) will receive free shoes and haircuts. You must register.
The Ordinary People Society is hosting Moma Tina’s Mission House Bash at 605 North Alice Street from 12 to 2 p.m. There are supplies available. For additional information, call 334-648-4669 to speak with Keke McGriff.
August 4.
School supplies, book bags, TT’s Ice snow cones, raffles, music, food vendors, kid vendors, and more are all part of the She Winks Collections Giveaway at Dothan Kiwanis Park at Westgate. Each child can rent a Moochies 360 picture booth for $2.
9 August
Newton’s Love Out Loud Outreach Bash will take place at 2715 County Road 55 from 3 to 6 p.m.Giveaways, snacks, a bounce house, and free supplies.
