Alabama Woman Accused of Organized Retail Theft in Houston County

HOUSTON COUNTY, Ala.  (WDNews) – A Montgomery woman is facing a felony charge in Houston County after being arrested on suspicion of organized retail theft.

According to court records, 42-year-old Tawanda Renea Lewis was taken into custody on June 12, 2025. She was formally charged the next day with one count of felony organized retail theft under Alabama Code 13A-8-226. The charge stems from an alleged offense in Houston County, though additional details about the incident were not immediately available.

Lewis is currently being held in the Houston County Jail with bond set at $30,000. Court filings show she was indicted by a grand jury in June 2024. She is scheduled for arraignment on July 9, 2025, at 1:30 p.m., followed by a jury trial currently set for September 22 at 8:30 a.m.
