MONTGOMERY, AL (WDNews) – Alabama Secretary of State Wes Allen and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency have joined forces to introduce Alabama Combats Trafficking (ACT), a new program that calls on local companies to help combat human trafficking.
Businesses in Alabama are encouraged to apply online at sos.alabama.gov/act/get-involved. In addition to a decal to put in a prominent place, participating businesses will receive training materials on how to recognize and report human trafficking.
Each participating company’s address will be listed on the Secretary of State’s website.
Allen stated that he is urging all Alabama companies to take part in this significant endeavor. Citizens can assist in identifying and reporting human trafficking incidents through the Alabama Combats Trafficking program. We are raising awareness of the battle against human trafficking throughout our state.
Public knowledge is crucial, according to ALEA Secretary Hal Taylor.
According to Taylor, the public can be a valuable ally in assisting law enforcement in identifying victims and apprehending traffickers provided they are aware of the warning signals and remain attentive.
The Alabama Sheriffs Association and the Alabama District Attorneys Association have also endorsed the program, pointing to the value of community involvement in spotting and stopping human trafficking.
According to Huey Hoss Mack, Executive Director of the Alabama Sheriffs Association, this offers even another useful tool to combat this most dangerous problem in all of our communities. Many lives could be saved by a single phone call.
