Alabama Forestry backs Young Boozer for State Treasurer

MONTGOMERY, AL (WDNews) — Young Boozer has been endorsed by the Alabama Forestry Association (AFA) to serve as the state treasurer of Alabama.

Boozer was elected State Treasurer twice, in 2010 and 2014. He was elected to a third term in January 2023 after being appointed by Governor Kay Ivey in 2021 to serve out the remaining portion of John McMillan’s tenure. Prior to that, from 2007 to 2010, he worked for Governor Bob Riley as the Deputy State Finance Director.

Prior to joining the public service, Boozer worked for Citibank in New York, Crocker National Bank in Los Angeles, Coral Petroleum in Houston, and Colonial Bank in Montgomery, among other banks and financial institutions around the nation.

Boozer was born in Birmingham and grew up in Tuscaloosa. He graduated from Stanford University with a bachelor’s degree in economics and the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School with a master’s degree in finance.

“The Alabama Forestry Association’s support for my reelection as Treasurer is greatly appreciated, and I look forward to continuing to preserve and protect all of the State’s financial resources,” Boozer stated.

According to AFA President and CEO Chris Isaacson, Young has done and will continue to perform an outstanding job as Treasurer of Alabama. We are pleased to support him once more because of his knowledge and background in the financial industry, which make him an excellent choice for the position of State Treasurer.

Boozer is running for Alabama State Treasurer again. Tuesday, May 19, 2026, is the date of the primary election.
