Schools throughout the state are being invited to submit their efforts to keep students safe as Attorney General Steve Marshall formally opens the application window for the 2025 Alabama Safe Schools Initiative Awards.
The deadline for applications is Friday, August 15, 2025.
The yearly program recognizes schools who go above and beyond in terms of campus safety, emphasizing community involvement, training, innovation, and cooperation with emergency responders.
Marshall stated that safeguarding our children’s health and safety, particularly during their school days, is of utmost importance. Schools and communities that form solid alliances and use cutting-edge safety technologies are highlighted by this initiative.
A review by impartial judges with practical school safety experience is part of the evaluation process, which consists of four stages. They will evaluate candidates on anything from safety technologies and school resource officer involvement to law-related education and preventative initiatives.
