According to a system news release, Jim Davis was elected as the new UT president by the UT System Board of Regents on Wednesday.
According to earlier Texan coverage, Davis was selected the board’s only finalist for university president in July after being appointed as interim president in February. Davis is taking over for former president Jay Hartzell, who resigned in January to take a job as president of Southern Methodist University.
In the press release, Davis stated, “I am honored to serve as our University’s president and am grateful for the trust of Chairman Eltife and the Board of Regents.”
The system’s chairman, Kevin Eltife, stated that he is confident Davis will lead the university to even greater heights as one of the top public universities in the world.
Eltife stated in the news release that Jim Davis has a fantastic history of completing significant projects on the Forty Acres.
