Manhunt Underway in Panama City As Suspect Escapes Custody Outside Hospital

PANAMA CITY, FL. (WDNews) — A man who escaped from police custody Friday morning between East 7th Street and North MacArthur Avenue is being sought by authorities.

Rashaun O. Neal Mitchell, 28, was first taken into custody on Thursday on many narcotics and obstruction charges, according to the Panama City Police Department. Before bringing Mitchell into jail, officers took him to Ascension Sacred Heart Bay for a medical check.

While authorities were trying to get Mitchell into a patrol cruiser outside the hospital, he reportedly managed to escape. When he escaped, he was still in handcuffs and was last seen wearing red shorts and a black T-shirt.

Mitchell is accused of trafficking a variety of drugs, possessing them with the purpose to distribute them, tampering with evidence, evading capture, escaping, and resisting arrest.
