Foley, Ala. (WDNews) — After police found a man’s decaying body inside her apartment, a Baldwin County woman is being charged with a crime.

A worried neighbor summoned the Foley officers to the Alison Pointe Apartments. Investigators suspect the man had been deceased for as long as two weeks when they discovered his body in a bedroom inside the apartment.

According to reports, Valerie Bonner, the resident, informed police that the man might have overdosed on drugs and died. According to Foley Police Lt. Tony Fuqua, she claimed she was afraid of getting in trouble, which is why she didn’t report it.

According to the authorities, Bonner took the man’s wallet and phone from the scene and disposed of them in a dumpster. She is now accused of mistreating a deceased person.

Additionally, investigators disclosed that this is not the first time they have visited Bonner’s apartment. Her husband passed away from an overdose in the same unit approximately six months ago.

An autopsy report is still awaited to determine the man’s official cause of death. Investigations into the case are still ongoing.
