Daleville PD Clears Up Missing Officer Post as False Information

Published On:

Daleville, Alabama (WDNews) – Daleville police are alerting the public to a bogus social media post that is making the rounds online, claiming a female department officer is missing.

Authorities affirm that the woman is not connected to the Daleville Police Department in any manner, even though the uploaded photo might show a missing officer from another location.

To assist the public in spotting deceptive posts, officials identified a few warning signs:

The original post, which had no official agency support, was made in a Buy, Sell, Trade group.

The fact that comments were disabled may indicate false information.

The department’s verified Facebook page never sent out a corresponding alert.

According to a department official, “We appreciate the public’s concern and the ability of social media to spread important alerts.” However, we ask that everyone double-check their information, particularly when it pertains to public safety or missing persons.

The agency promised to make it obvious on their official Facebook site if they ever needed public assistance in a legitimate case.
