– More than 850,000 smart home fragrance diffusers have been recalled due to a serious safety concern involving detachable magnets that could pose a risk to children.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced Wednesday that Pura Scents Inc. is recalling its Pura 4 Smart Home Fragrance Diffusers. The recall involves the product’s detachable front cover, which contains five magnets — three small and two large — that may come loose.

If swallowed, high-powered magnets can cause life-threatening internal injuries, including blockages, infections and intestinal perforations.Although no injuries have been reported, the company has received three complaints of magnets detaching.

Consumers are urged to immediately dispose of the existing front cover, keep the diffuser away from children and pets, and contact Pura Scents for a free replacement. The company is notifying all known purchasers directly.

The affected units were sold online at pura.com, Amazon, Target.com, and Scheels.com, as well as in-store at Target, Scheels, and other retailers nationwide from August 2023 to May 2025 for around $50.

The recalled diffusers can be identified by serial numbers ranging from JX230000001 to JX230801425 and JX240000001 to JX24004995
