Enterprise, Ala. (WDNews) —

After more than four decades of faithful service to the Wiregrass community, Rev. John Belcher is being honored by Christian Mission Centers with a special event this August.

On Monday, August 18, 2025, the public is invited to attend an open house celebration recognizing Rev. Belcher’s 42 years of tireless work helping those in need across the region. The event will take place from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at First Methodist Church of Enterprise, located at 217 S. Main Street.

Rev. Belcher founded Christian Mission Centers with the vision of serving the homeless, hungry and hurting in the Wiregrass area. That vision grew into a powerful mission.

In 2024 alone, the ministry provided over 60,000 hot meals, operated a 72-hour emergency shelter, and ran a free six-month residential addiction recovery program followed by aftercare assistance with jobs, transportation and housing. The organization spent more than $710,000 meeting needs in the community last year.

Rev. Belcher has dedicated the better part of his life to helping the less fortunate in the Wiregrass area, and we want to honor that legacy,” Organizer, Michael Murrey, said in a statement.

The event is free to attend and open to the public. Food and refreshments will be served following the ceremony. For more information, visit
